A school cohort finishes four weeks on the pens

This is a sample, written before the programme is in the water, so you can see what a placement note will look like. Student placements are working placements — the measurements students take go into the real dataset, under supervision.

A real note would name the school, the four weeks of duties — morning counts, feed weights, water chemistry — and be honest about the first-week errors, because learning to measure carefully is the point of the placement.

It would close with what the students signed off on in their last week: readings taken unassisted, checked against the supervisor’s, and entered into the log under their own initials. That sign-off is the record a student takes away with them.
