This is a sample, written before the programme is in the water, so you can see what a hatchery note will look like. The day 0–20 larval window is the hardest part of raising this species, and every cohort’s passage through it will be reported here.
A real note would give the cohort’s survival curve, the feed regime changes that were made and why, and the condition checks the fish passed before transfer. Then the handover: which pen keepers took the cohort, and the first counts from the pens.
Every cohort is logged daily — counts, feed, water chemistry, mortalities with attributed cause. The log is the dataset the science programme publishes against.
Cohort notes are where the firsts will show up. Nobody has published survival data for this species through the larval window; the first cohort to clear it makes a small piece of new science.
